Some facts about Frumtak
In a speech at the annual meeting of the New Business Venture Fund in May 2008, the then minister of industry, announced that an agreement had been reached between the New Business Venture Fund, the three major banks and six major pension funds in Iceland to establish a new venture fund, called Frumtak.
The fund size is ISK 4.050.000.000.- and is intended to invest in innovation companies that show exceptional growth potential.
The fund started investing early 2009 and has made 12 investments to date. Most of these are in ICT.
Frumtak takes an active role in the companies that the fund invests in. The objective of Frumtak is to invest in companies that can become leaders in their field so they not only show good returns, but contribute to improve the society in which they operate.
